But Jax's mother, Gemma Katey Sagal , and stepfather, Clay Ron Perlman , are threatened by the idea that Jax might be considering a new direction, which could jeopardize the business they've worked -- and killed -- to build.
Although the characters are complex and often compelling, "charming" is one thing they're not. They drink, they swear, they kill. But, beneath the crude-talking, murderous exterior, Sons of Anarchy actually does have a heart -- the only catch is, it's kind of twisted. So, Sons won't be for everyone.
But those who don't mind rooting for bad guys who are actually kind of good guys yet are still, by very definition, bad guys will find a potentially addicting show fueled by stunning plot twists, critically acclaimed performances Sagal nabbed a Golden Globe for her work , and loose ties to William Shakespeare's Hamlet -- which could very well foreshadow these characters' fates. Families can talk about biker gangs -- how they are in real life and the way they're typically portrayed in movies and television.

Nov 13, I have seen this entire 7-season show more times than most would admit. I had seen him in Abandon years before and wanted to catch another performance even though I was certain a show about an outlaw biker gang would not interest me.
After a few seconds of thinking I would not pay for Season Five I was processing my credit card. I told all my friends about the show and when they wanted to watch I had them over for binge sessions so we could watch together. That was a repeat occurrence many times! Why the obsession???? Seriously, this show has it all -- and there's an underlying dark humor that enables you to get through some of the gruesome stuff.
Hunnam's performance is mesmerizing and brilliant -- and Katey Sagal is amazing! The rest of the cast - including guest stars are so good! Kurt Sutter is a genius and his ability to draw you into caring about people who do some really bad stuff is a matter of great writing and character development.
This first season will lure you in with the Pilot episode and it just keeps getting better from there! This is a must watch and each time I saw it again I picked up new nuances. Jax Teller is a man who is so conflicted, so dangerous but also so loyal and loving. You can't but help falling in love with him or to hope that things work out for him. But he encounters obstacles at every corner. The ensemble cast works perfectly together and although it is a violent show it's brutally realistic. Absolutely amazing to the point of being perfect.
